'The Baptism'
As a child of eleven years old, during a holiday in the Belgium Voerstreek, I found myself in a High mass on a Sunday morning. This at the invitation of our hosts farmer Heusche and his wife. When we
arrived at church it became clear that farmer Heusche was a member of the church choir. My father and I were allowed to accompany him to the balcony. There the man who I got to know the passed week as a solid, good-humoured, animal loving farmer, changed into a devout, crystal-clear tenor. Astonishing!!!
The seed of the composer was sown that morning in Belgium.
